WAPPINGER, N.Y. — Town Supervisor Joseph Cavaccini delivered his annual State of the Town address Wednesday, declaring the town is strong, thanks to a year of progress and infrastructure investments. Cavaccini cited advancements in public works, community protection and improvements he said will benefit residents for years to come.

The address was delivered on May 20, which marked the 151st anniversary of the Town of Wappinger’s incorporation, a date Cavaccini highlighted as significant in local history.

Cavaccini reported the town is in “excellent overall financial condition,” enabling what he described as the largest public works initiative of the century. Projects include new municipal facilities, park upgrades, improved water and sewer infrastructure, and enhanced public safety measures.

Cavaccini outlined plans for a townwide wastewater treatment plant, a possible withdrawal from the Tri-Municipal Sewer Facility, new online building permit software, the creation of the Sprout Creek Water Trail, and a Monday farmers market at town hall set to begin June 22.

To address a nationwide emergency medical services shortage, Cavaccini announced a partnership with the Village of Wappingers Falls to establish a combined ambulance system. The move is expected to increase ambulance coverage for the greater Wappinger area to three ambulances, providing reliable EMS coverage in the community.
The video and text of Supervisor Cavaccini’s address will be posted to the Town website later today (Thursday).  .
