Jesse Love has quickly become one of NASCAR’s most talked-about rising talents. Currently sitting third in the Xfinity Series standings, Love has already racked up five top-fives and nine top-10s this season. This follows his impressive Xfinity championship run last year, which firmly put the young driver on everyone’s radar.

That breakout success earned Love his Cup Series debut at Bristol last season. He has since made six additional starts between last year and this season, turning heads across the garage. With his continued strong performances, speculation is growing that Richard Childress Racing could open up a full-time Cup seat for him in 2027.

Given his remarkable consistency, it’s no surprise that teams like Spire Motorsports, Trackhouse Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, and Legacy Motor Club have reportedly shown interest. On a recent episode of The Teardown, NASCAR reporter Jordan Bianchi noted that some industry insiders believe RCR could eventually replace Kyle Busch with Love in the No. 8 car.

Busch’s recent struggles have only fueled those rumors. The veteran driver hasn’t won a race since June 2023. After a tough 2024 with a 21st-place average finish, he missed the 2025 playoffs entirely. This season hasn’t treated him much better. He’s maintaining that same 21st-place average finish, with just one pole and two top-10s so far.

Despite the RCR rumors, Bianchi believes Busch will likely stay put, meaning Love may look outside the organization once his current contract expires at the end of the year. While Busch’s future remains uncertain as free agency looms, he has shown signs of life lately, including a gritty eighth-place finish at Watkins Glen while battling a sinus illness.

Ultimately, jumping to the Cup Series with RCR would be a seamless transition for Love, given his established success within their development program. Love has made it clear that a full-time Cup ride by 2027 is his ultimate goal. Whether that happens with RCR or another team, his on-track performance ensures he will remain the centerpiece of the silly season conversation.
