WASHINGTON D.C.- Congressman Mike Lawler (R, NY-17) voted in favor of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, a sweeping Farm Bill that passed the House in a bipartisan 224-200 vote and now heads to the Senate.

The legislation reauthorizes U.S. Department of Agriculture programs through 2031, including SNAP nutrition assistance, land conservation initiatives, agricultural research programs, broadband expansion, and support for specialty crops.

Lawler said the bill will provide important support for Hudson Valley farms, particularly growers of fruits and vegetables.

“I was proud to vote for a Farm Bill that keeps food on the table for New Yorkers,” Lawler said in a statement.  “This legislation delivers real support for our state’s specialty crop industry, including the fruits and vegetables grown right here in the Hudson Valley.”

Lawler, a member of the Specialty Crops Caucus, also said the bill strengthens the agricultural supply chain while investing in environmental protection programs through the USDA.
