ALBANY – The state Labor Department released New York’s March unemployment statistics on Tuesday and Putnam tied with Rockland County reporting 3.3 percent rates of unemployment.

Overall, Hudson Valley counties scored well when it comes to low unemployment rates.

Dutchess and Westchester recorded rates of 3.6 percent followed by Orange and Ulster counties experiencing rates of unemployment at 4.0 percent while Sullivan County had a rate of joblessness at 4.3 percent.

The March 2026 unemployment rate for the entire Hudson Valley was 3.7 percent down from 4.2 percent in February and up from 3.4 percent in March of last year.
