WAPPINGERS FALLS – New York State Senator Rob Rolison (District 39) has sent a to resolve ongoing litigation tied to a partially collapsed stone wall and long-closed sidewalk along West Main Street (Route 9D) in the Village of Wappingers Falls. The sidewalk has remained closed since the wall was damaged in 2020, creating a public safety crisis for pedestrians in a heavily trafficked area.

Rolison told Mid-Hudson News that residents in the village are concerned for their safety because they have to step off the sidewalk onto the busy roadway to get around the closed section.
The repairs have been held up in litigation involving many parties, including New York State DOT, which is represented by the New York State Attorney General’s Office.  Rolison wants to see the sidewalk fixed before the lawsuit continues its way through the court system.
“Fix it, then litigate it, but don’t litigate it then fix it,” Rolison exclaimed.

Senator Rolison emphasized the urgency of resolving the issue before a preventable accident occurs and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for timely infrastructure repairs and public safety across the district.

The section of the sidewalk has been closed for repairs for several years.
