In a Facebook post reply, Fitchburg Mayor Samantha Squailia posted a statement that went out to the campus community from Fitchburg State University President Donna Hodge about the Monday night shooting.
“As the situation developed, we alerted campus to avoid the area while police managed an active investigation. Based on what was known at the time, this was not an active shooter moving through the community, but a targeted, localized incident,” said the statement from Hodge posted by Squailia.
