Neighborworks America grants awarded to nonprofits

WASHINGTON – Neighborworks America, established by Congress in 1978, that focuses on expanding affordable housing options, economic development and opportunity, and making neighborhoods safe, announced its latest round of grants including two in the Hudson Valley.

The goal of the nonprofit organization “is to even the playing field for so many by expanding housing stock, revitalizing neighborhoods, and creating economic opportunities,” said US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D, NY), who announced the grants.

Hudson River Housing, Inc. based in Poughkeepsie, will receive $254,000 while RUPCO, Inc., headquartered in Kingston, will receive $428,000.

For over 45 years, Neighborworks America has supported local solutions to affordable housing and community development challenges in Urban, suburban and rural communities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, and Native lands by providing Neighborworks organizations with financial and grant support, training, technical assistance, organizational assessments, technology tools, and other services.
