MID-HUDSON – With summer temperatures arriving in the Hudson Valley, NYSEG encourages residents facing overdue winter heating bills to reach out for help.

“We want customers to know we’re here to help and where to get that help for families who may be experiencing financial challenges. Customers can visit our website or contact Customer Service for billing questions and information on support programs or payment options,” said NYSEG Vice President Christine Alexander

She said customers who are late paying their bills are contacted multiple times with supportive messages well before any service disruption is even contemplated.  “Financial difficulties can arise for many reasons, and NYSEG’s goal is always to give customers the time, information, and assistance they need to stay connected,” she said.

As part of this process, NYSEG provides multiple notifications, including bill messages, reminder notices, or phone calls, followed by a termination notice that offers an additional payment period. NYSEG also conducts an in-person visit to the residence to discuss options and collect payment to prevent disconnection.

NYSEG provides several financial assistance programs.  Customers may qualify for bill credits, including the Energy Affordability Program (EAP) and Enhanced Energy Affordability Program (EEAP).

For information on bill assistance programs, please consumers are asked to visit  or . Customers are also encouraged to contact customer service at 800.572.1111 to learn about other bill relief options.
