MAHOPAC- Hudson Hounds’ moniker has always been “a place where pets could roam freely, socialize, and be cared for like family.”
The boarding facility was founded in 2012 in a Westchester apartment, and when the business expanded Hudson Hounds relocated to Union Valley Road in Mahopac a decade ago.
The center offers play groups, grooming, and overnight stays, all centered around what it described as a “warm, safe home atmosphere” for dogs.
On Saturday, the Putnam County SPCA announced the arrest of Aaron Pozit, 43, the owner of Hudson Hounds, following an investigation into allegations of animal abuse at the boarding facility.
SPCA Chief Ken Ross told Mid-Hudson News detectives arrested Pozi charging him with 16 counts related to alleged acts of animal abuse. The charges stem from an investigation during which authorities interviewed several individuals connected to the Mahopac facility.
The alleged acts of abuse were not revealed pending the ongoing investigation.
Pozit had taken over the daily operations of Hudson Hounds when the business expanded into Putnam County.
Pozit faces arraignment in Carmel Town Court on April 21.
Ross said the investigation is ongoing: “Anyone with additional information is urged to come forward by contacting our Law Enforcement Division at 845-520-6915 or online at
