FITCHBURG — RC Excitement staff members are revved up about their 25th Anniversary Spring Fling Open House this coming weekend, a celebration of all things remote control and their epic business achievement.
“It means a tremendous amount to us. Reaching 25 years is something I’m very proud of, because it represents a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and persistence over the years,” said RC Excitement owner Todd Anderson Sr. “There were challenges along the way and there were times when we had to just keep pushing forward and believe in what we were building. But beyond that, this milestone really reflects the people who supported us, believed in us, and helped make RC Excitement what it is today. It’s not just about 25 years in business — it’s about 25 years of community, relationships, and shared passion for the hobby.”

The general public is welcome to come by the 208 Bemis Road spot on Saturday, April 11, for the RC4WD Show & Shine RC Car Show and open house to check out all they have to offer. Those who want to participate in the show can bring vintage or custom RC4WD builds, as it is exclusively for vehicles manufactured by the California based company that provides many types of scale RC goods.
“This event is all about celebrating the detail, creativity, realism and craftsmanship that make RC4WD builds so impressive,” the event description reads. “Whether you’ve got a beautifully restored vintage truck, a highly detailed custom rig, a parts-heavy performance build, or a trail truck that perfectly captures the scale look, this is your chance to put it on display and be part of a huge day of RC fun.”
The award categories are Best in Show RC4WD Truck; Best Tiny Tire Build (Sub 4.19); Best Vintage RC4WD Build; and Best Weathered RC4WD. The Show & Shine area opens at 10 a.m., judging and awards will be at 1 p.m., and the RC4WD sponsored trail run takes place at 2 p.m.
Anderson Sr. originally opened RC Excitement in Worcester in 2001 and when he decided to relocate it two years later, he looked at 58 different properties before settling on the space in Fitchburg.
“I think people enjoy that RC Excitement is more than just a place to buy RC cars or run on a track. It’s a place where people can have fun, learn something new, compete and connect with others who share the same interest,” Anderson Sr. said of what draws people to them. “For a lot of people, it becomes a place they look forward to coming to because of the atmosphere and the friendships as much as the RC itself. There’s a real sense that you’re part of something when you’re here, and I think that’s what keeps people coming back.”

He and his son Todd Anderson Jr., who goes by the nickname Toddie, recently took a moment to look out over the off-road dirt track together and reminisce about all of the memories made there since the Fitchburg location opened in 2003.
“What I enjoy most is seeing how RC Excitement has impacted people over time,” Anderson Sr. said. “It’s rewarding to watch someone come in for the first time, get introduced to the hobby, and then grow into a regular part of the community. I also really value the team around me, because you don’t build something like this alone. It takes a lot of dedicated people working together, and I’m proud of what that team effort has created.”
That main track is what started the whole place and over the years also led to Anderson Jr. becoming a sponsored professional RC driver. It’s one of several indoor and outdoor track options for RC Excitement customers of all levels to utilize, and Anderson Sr. said newbies are more than welcome.
“If you’re new, I’d say don’t be intimidated. Everybody starts somewhere, and RC Excitement is a place where beginners are welcome,” he shared. “You can come in, ask questions, watch what’s going on, and get a feel for all the different parts of the hobby. What usually hooks people is seeing how much fun it is and how many different ways there are to enjoy it. Whether you’re interested in racing, crawling, drifting or just driving for fun, there’s something here for you. The biggest thing is just to come experience it for yourself.”

Anderson Sr. and Anderson Jr. are joined by RC Excitement Marketing Director Sam Steele-Hunter in a podcast series that features stories and content about the business reaching the quarter century mark. Looking to the future Anderson Sr. said they remain committed to staying on track by providing fun for all ages — and that the coming year will see them continue to improve the building.
“The goal is to keep growing and keep improving while staying true to what has made RC Excitement special in the first place,” he said. “We want to continue building the community, bringing new people into the hobby, and creating an even better experience for the people who already support us. That means continuing to evolve, offering new opportunities, improving our facility and events, and making sure RC Excitement stays a place where people feel welcome and excited to be part of it. After 25 years we’re proud of what we’ve built — but we’re still looking ahead.”
