A dusting of snow fell across the North Central Mass region early Tuesday morning, making for a stark contrast between the white stuff and the colorful spring flowers already in bloom or close to opening. It coated daffodil greens poking their way up through the Earth and purple crocus that protectively closed up in response to the cold dusting. But it didn’t last long — by 10 a.m. it had changed over to rain and by noon the sun was poking through the clouds, melting all the snow before rain fell again. The National Weather Service reported 1 inch of snow fell in Pepperell and a little over 2 inches in Royalston.
