TOWNSEND — Spring has sprung and the “winter sleepers” are awake and “relentlessly” emerging around the Reed House. It’s time to spruce up the grounds and remove all the leaves, twigs and branches that cover the grounds. The garden beds will wait for a bit longer to protect the “inhabitants” that enjoy the leaf litter.
The Townsend Historical Society needs volunteers to help with the clean-up.
Officials said that as the weekends are especially busy for everyone, people could join the cleanup if you they available on a weekday, weather dependent of course.
Historical Society President Chris Barnacoat said he can meet with helpers on Monday, April 6, Tuesday, April 7, and/or Wednesday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon each day, if all three days are needed.
Contact Barnacoat at [email protected] and let him know if you can come.
Bring your rake, gloves and bug spray and join us in sprucing up the Reed House grounds.
Barnacoat said that Harrriet Reed Strout, known for her beautiful gardens around the Reed House, will be smiling down on the volunteers.
Come join us for a few hours of outdoor spring cleaning at the Reed Homestead!
