Donald Trump announced that a major strike in Tehran had killed what he described as “many of Iran’s Military Leaders,” accusing them of steering the country “poorly and unwisely.”

In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump declared that the targeted leaders had been “terminated, along with much else, with this massive strike in Tehran.” The post included a video that appeared to show footage of the strike, though independent verification of the video was not immediately available.

The president framed the operation as both decisive and necessary, suggesting it was part of a broader strategy to counter Iranian aggression and destabilizing actions in the region. His message signaled an escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, with Trump portraying the strike as a direct response to what he considers hostile conduct by Iran’s leadership.

Ultimatum Over the Strait of Hormuz

Earlier in the day, Trump issued a sharp warning to Iran regarding the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. He reminded Tehran of a previous deadline he had set, demanding that Iran either “MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT.”

“Time is running out – 48 hours before all Hell will reign down on them,” Trump wrote, reiterating his ultimatum and signaling potential further military action if Iran failed to comply.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical oil transit chokepoints, with a significant portion of global energy supplies passing through the narrow waterway. Any disruption to its flow has immediate consequences for international markets and regional stability.

According to reporting by Joshua Klein of Breitbart News, Trump’s renewed warning builds on earlier statements in which he indicated that the United States could target major Iranian regime infrastructure if Tehran refused to reopen the strait and failed to reach diplomatic terms. Potential targets previously mentioned included electric power plants, oil fields, and Kharg Island — Iran’s primary oil export hub.

The renewed ultimatum suggests growing impatience within the administration, particularly as diplomatic efforts appear to be stalling ahead of a looming deadline.

Iran Responds

Iranian officials pushed back strongly against the U.S. narrative. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed that Tehran’s position had been “misrepresented by U.S. media.” He insisted that Iran had “never refused to go to Islamabad,” maintaining that the core issue for Tehran was securing terms for what he described as a “conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us.”

Meanwhile, CNN reported that Iranian officials warned the United States and Israel would face the punishment of “hell” if the conflict expands further. The rhetoric on both sides reflects rapidly intensifying tensions, with each government signaling readiness to escalate if necessary.

A Critical Moment

The developments mark a critical moment in U.S.-Iran relations. Trump’s announcement of the strike and his hardline stance on the Strait of Hormuz indicate a willingness to apply military and economic pressure simultaneously. At the same time, Iran’s defiant response underscores the risk of broader regional confrontation.

As deadlines approach and diplomacy appears uncertain, the world watches closely to see whether the situation moves toward de-escalation or deeper conflict.
