President Donald Trump has reportedly removed Attorney General Pam Bondi from her position, according to a Fox News report citing sources familiar with internal discussions.

The report states that Bondi met with Trump in the Oval Office Wednesday evening prior to his national address regarding the conflict in Iran, during which she was allegedly informed of her dismissal. One source indicated that by the time the president delivered his speech, Bondi had already left Washington and was returning to Florida.

The same report indicates that Lee Zeldin, currently serving as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, is being considered as a potential replacement. According to individuals familiar with the matter, Trump met with Zeldin at the White House earlier in the week, where discussions included wildfire prevention and reportedly touched on a possible transition at the Justice Department.

Sources described Zeldin as a plausible successor, while noting that no final decision has been publicly confirmed and that the president could alter course.

Officials within the Justice Department disputed the claims when contacted. A spokesperson stated, “The AG was with [Trump] for the speech last night,” pushing back on reports of an immediate removal.

A White House source, when asked about the situation, did not confirm the reports but indicated the matter was “not cold,” suggesting ongoing internal deliberations.

The reported development follows earlier coverage, including a report from The New York Times, indicating that Trump had expressed dissatisfaction with Bondi’s performance and had been considering a replacement.

Despite those reports, Trump publicly expressed support for Bondi. “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” he said in a statement issued through the White House.

Earlier the same day, Bondi accompanied the president to the U.S. Supreme Court for oral arguments in a case concerning birthright citizenship, underscoring the mixed signals surrounding her status.

As of now, no official announcement confirming a leadership change at the Justice Department has been released, and conflicting accounts continue to circulate regarding Bondi’s position.
