Reports indicate the president has discussed replacing Attorney General Pam Bondi as scrutiny intensifies over document disclosures.

President Donald Trump has privately considered removing Attorney General Pam Bondi following criticism surrounding the Justice Department’s handling of records tied to Jeffrey Epstein, according to multiple reports.
Sources cited in a CNN report said Trump has discussed the possibility of replacing Bondi with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin. The discussions come as backlash has grown among supporters over how the administration has managed the release of Epstein-related materials.
According to the report, Trump has expressed frustration over the controversy and has questioned whether changes in leadership at the Justice Department may be warranted. However, sources indicated that no final decision has been made, and it remains unclear whether any action is imminent.
The issue centers on the release of documents connected to Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, following a court order in New York requiring additional materials tied to a 2019 sex trafficking case to be made public. The Justice Department has been releasing batches of records over time, drawing scrutiny over both redactions and disclosures.
Bondi has faced criticism after some documents were heavily redacted, while in other instances names of victims were not fully concealed. The handling of the materials has prompted questions from lawmakers and the public regarding oversight and procedural safeguards.
In addition, Bondi drew attention after stating she had reviewed “tens of thousands” of Epstein-related videos. The claim was followed by remarks from FBI Director Kash Patel, who said there is no Epstein “client list,” adding to the ongoing debate over the scope and content of the released materials.
A separate report highlighted by a post on X stated that Trump has recently discussed Bondi’s leadership and raised the possibility of a replacement. Another X post similarly noted that while the idea has been floated internally, it is not clear whether the president intends to act on it.
Despite the reported discussions, Trump publicly expressed support for Bondi. “Attorney General Pam Bondi is a wonderful person and she is doing a good job,” he said in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.
Bondi also appeared alongside the president during a visit to the Supreme Court, where arguments were heard in a case involving birthright citizenship.
The developments come after Trump previously signed legislation aimed at increasing transparency in the Epstein investigation, directing the release of related records. The Justice Department’s execution of that directive continues to be a focal point of attention.
As scrutiny over the document releases continues, the situation surrounding leadership at the Justice Department remains unresolved.
