It’s April and that means showers and the promise of warmer days and balmy breezes. It also means that it’s time for another show at the Loading Dock Gallery at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell.
“Great Day to Be a Warrior” opened yesterday and is on exhibit through April 24. A reception takes place Saturday, April 4, from 4 to 5 p.m. as part of the Western Avenue Studios monthly First Saturday Open Studios.
The exhibition showcases the work of Merrimack College Creative Arts, Design and Architecture students and alumni and was curated by Allyson Lewis and Jonathan Latiano.
Building on the success of “Western Ave: Artists at Work,” this timeless exhibition centers on the artists themselves and highlights ambition, experimentation and creativity across disciplines.
Featuring work in two and three dimensions, drawing and digital media, the exhibit celebrates the dynamic, thoughtful, and emotionally resonant voices that are emerging from the college’s visual and performing arts community. Although diverse in approach, each piece shown shares a common foundation: a commitment to risk-taking, process, and artistic growth. The exhibit is a celebration of creativity, collaboration and the shared strength of an artistic community.
It will be open Wednesday-Friday, from noon to 5:30 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visit www.theloadingdockgallery.com for info.
