Aerin Frankel and the Boston Fleet have a simple philosophy: If they don’t allow any goals, they can’t lose.
Frankel continued her outstanding play in net, stopping all 18 shots she faced to lead the Fleet to a 4-0 win over Toronto during PWHL action Friday night before 8,636 fans at the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto.
It was Frankel’s third consecutive shutout and the first time in Fleet history they’ve blanked three straight opponents.
Frankel earned the No. 1 star for her efforts and kept Boston (12-5-2-4), winners of six of eight, on a roll. Offensively, Liz Schepers pocketed the game’s first two goals.
Adding a goal in the second period was Jessie Eldridge, while Sophie Shirley put the game out of reach with a third-period tally. Shirley also dished out an assist. The Fleet now have a league-leading seven shutouts.
