Professional golfer Tiger Woods was arrested in Florida on suspicion of driving under the influence after a rollover crash that authorities said followed a high-speed collision.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said during a press briefing that Woods was traveling at “a high rate of speed” when his vehicle struck another car, causing it to overturn onto the driver’s side. Officials said Woods exited the vehicle by crawling out through the passenger side.

Law enforcement officers reported that Woods showed signs of impairment at the scene. Authorities said he registered “triple-zeroes” on a breath test for alcohol but declined to submit to a urine test.

Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to comply with testing requirements. All charges are classified as misdemeanors. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported and that Woods was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The incident comes days after Woods appeared at the TGL championship, where he competed while his girlfriend Vanessa Trump and her daughter Kai were in attendance. It marked a recent return to competitive golf following an Achilles injury that sidelined him ahead of the Masters.

Woods, a 15-time major champion with five titles at Augusta, has not confirmed whether he will compete in this year’s Masters. President Donald Trump said during an appearance on “The Five” that Woods would attend the event but not participate.

The latest arrest follows previous driving-related incidents involving Woods. In 2021, he sustained serious leg injuries in a crash that kept him off the course for an extended period. In 2017, he was arrested in Florida after being found impaired while under the influence of prescription medications.

Since his 2019 Masters victory, Woods has struggled to return to consistent form in major tournaments. In 14 major appearances since that win, he has not recorded a top-20 finish. Over his last 26 majors, he has placed inside the top 20 four times.

His most recent competitive appearances came in 2024, when he played five events, including the Genesis Invitational and all four major championships. He withdrew from the Genesis, finished last at the Masters and did not advance past the cut in the remaining majors.

Authorities have not released additional details about the crash investigation.
