HYDE PARK – After two years of persistent coordination with State and County officials, the New York State Department of Transportation has approved a speed limit reduction, dropping the limit from 45 mph to 35 mph on East Dorsey Lane in Hyde Park.  Although a town road, East Dorsey Lane is also Dutchess County Route 40.

Town Supervisor Al Torreggiani and County Executive Sue Serino announced the installation of new reduced speed signs and flashing STOP signs on the street. “Public safety has been a top priority, and while the process to secure this reduction was extensive, I am gratified to see these efforts come to fruition,” said Supervisor Al Torreggiani.

“Drivers must slow down. I am encouraging the Town Police to actively enforce these new limits to ensure the safety of our residents and students,” the supervisor said.
