LEOMINSTER — A graduation ceremony was held at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital last week to recognize the January 2025 cohort of its new Graduate Nurse Residency Program, a one-year training program.
The event was originally scheduled for Jan. 7, but was postponed due to a snowstorm.
The four nurses from the cohort are Kristen Battle, Alex Macklin, Gina Locke and Victorine Lontum. All four accepted positions at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital.
One of graduates, Victorine Lontum, previously worked at Nashoba Valley Medical Center and was heartbroken when the hospital closed, as she had planned to spend her entire nursing career there. Determined to find a new professional home where she would feel fulfilled, Lontum joined the Geriatric Medical Psych Unit at HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital.
Lontum has a deep connection to caring for older adults. She previously cared for her late grandmother and now helps care for her mother, who lives with her. According to one of the hospital’s nurse educators, patients on the GMPU frequently ask if Lontum is working. This reflects the positive impact she has already made in a short time.
