LEOMINSTER — The high school theater squad is thrilled to be heading to the state finals for the third year in a row and are doing one final fundraising performance of their show to help pay for the trip.

The Leominster High School (LHS) Theatre Company’s show for the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild One Act Play State Finals this year is called “The Great Ignored” and they are bringing it to the school’s stage on Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m.

“It is a fun, fast paced, high energy family friendly play about a group of child spies who are trying to bring down the corrupt adults in their city,” longtime LHS Theatre Company Director Andréa Mastroianni relayed about the storyline, adding “we have an ambitious set this year and some really precise technical elements.”

Tickets for the Monday performance can be purchased online by visiting thelhstc.com and will also be available at the door. Funds raised through ticket sales will go towards getting the cast and crew to Boston for the three days of state finals, March 26-28 at the Back Bay Events Center.

Mastroianni disclosed that while rehearsals have “been a lot of fun,” there have been some bumps in the road.

“We were met with a lot of challenges along the way,” she said. “We lost several rehearsals due to snow, and we were not feeling as prepared as we usually do going into prelims.”

Despite that, the talented students have risen to the occasion and are giving it their all.

“Our kids pulled together, put their heads down, and really worked incredibly hard to pull together as a team and the result has been wonderful to watch,” Mastroianni shared. “We are really excited to bring it to an audience.”
