MIDDLETOWN – The City of Middletown’s Engine 5 is nearing its two decades of service, and fire officials would like to purchase a new fire engine.
Chief Bob Brady brought the proposal before the Common Council’s Public Safety Committee.
“We’re in the process of hoping to purchase a new engine for the Ontario Hose Company up on North Street. Right now, they are operating a 2006 KME. So, it’s coming up on its 20 years this year,” he said.
The chief said it would take 3 ½ years build a new fire truck for $1.3 million.
The committee advances the proposed purchase to the city’s Board of Estimate.
