FITCHBURG, MA — Legendary music, hometown pride, and more than 50 years of skating tradition will take center ice March 28 at 3 p.m. when the Wallace Figure Skating Club presents its 53rd Annual Ice Show, “Turn It Up: Legends on Ice,” at the Wallace Civic Center.
America’s Got Talent finalist and Fitchburg native Lavender Darcangelo will perform as the local musical legend during the show. Darcangelo, whose powerful voice and emotional performances captivated national audiences on America’s Got Talent, will make a special live appearance in the production, bringing a unique fusion of live music and figure skating to the annual show performed by local skaters from across Central Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.
Beyond the stage, Darcangelo is also an advocate for adaptive sports and hopes to inspire greater opportunities in the region. She has participated in adaptive skiing, baseball, and most recently has begun taking figure skating lessons, further strengthening her connection with the skating community. Her involvement in the show reflects her passion for expanding access to sports for athletes of all abilities.
“Turn It Up: Legends on Ice” honors iconic musical artists across generations through group numbers, solo performances, guest skater appearances, a special alumni routine, and the ever-popular “Family Skate,” where parents are invited to join the skaters on the ice.
The Wallace Figure Skating Club has been a cornerstone of the Fitchburg area for more than five decades and remains the only USFSA figure skating club in the region, offering unique opportunities for skaters of all ages and abilities. Its annual ice show has long been a highlight of the spring season and is the only event of its kind in this community.
This year’s production is directed by Courtney Alsdorf and Meghan O’Brien, both of whom grew up skating at Wallace FSC and performing in this very show. Today, they coach at the club while continuing to compete at the national level.
“This show is home for us,” said O’Brien. “We were kids dreaming on this ice once, and Wallace FSC gave us the foundation to grow as athletes and artists. To return as coaches and teach the next generation is priceless — and to collaborate with Lavender, a legend from our own community — makes this year’s show incredibly special.”
WFSC invites the community to attend this exciting event. Tickets are available online and at the door. Prices are $5 for children under 6, seniors, and veterans, and $10 for adults.
