WESTMINSTER — Leprechauns, fairies and magical mischief abound in a lively retelling of some of Ireland’s best-loved tales as master storyteller Diane Edgecomb and Celtic harper Margot Chamberlain present “Fairy Stories and Harp Music of Ireland”.
This event will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, in the Eloranta Room at the Forbush Memorial Library, 118 Main St.
Audiences will enjoy Irish favorites such as “Bee Mouse Harp & Bumclock,” an Irish twist on “Jack and the Beanstalk” in which Jack receives magic bugs instead of beans, and “Gilly Dirtyfoot,” the humorous story of a boy whose refusal to wash his feet leads him into the company of a fairy band. Cloaks of invisibility, magic spells and a quest to free the Princess of France promise laughter and enchantment for all ages.
Known for her vivid comedic style and animated character portrayals, Edgecomb transforms into the figures in her tales, inviting audiences to participate and bringing stories to vibrant life. Chamberlain’s Celtic harp accompaniment adds a rich musical layer to the performance.
A Parent’s Choice Award winner, Edgecomb has been featured on NPR and is the recipient of the ORACLE Award for Storytelling Excellence in the Northeast, as well as five Storytelling World awards.
The program is supported in part by grants from the Westminster Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, and the Ryan P. Jones Heart of a Hero Foundation.
No registration is required. For more information, please visit the library’s website at forbushlibrary.org.
