FITCHBURG — Art and flowers will come together in a creative display when the Laurelwood Garden Club holds its monthly meeting from 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday, March 13, at the Fitchburg Art Museum, 185 Elm St., where members and guests will get a preview of this spring’s Art in Bloom event.

Members and guests will watch Christy King, floral designer with King Farms in Townsend, design and create a floral interpretation of a selected artwork while explaining the how’s and why’s behind the placement of flowers and overall composition.

“This presentation will be a pathway for members to participate in the upcoming Art in Bloom event,” said Julie Palioca, who does public relations for the club.

Art in Bloom

The Laurelwood Garden Club will also partner with the Fitchburg Art Museum for the 28th annual Art in Bloom, to be held Thursday, April 23, through Sunday, April 26, at the museum.

“This year, 40 pieces of art have been selected for interpretation,” Palioca explained. “The Laurelwood Garden Club invites its members, local garden clubs, artists and aspiring designers to create interpretations for Art in Bloom, and floral shops are also encouraged to participate.”

Beginning Friday, March 13, interested participants may visit the Fitchburg Art Museum to select an artwork and obtain an Interpreters Kit during regular museum hours, Wednesday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The deadline to register is 4 p.m. on, April 8.

Interpreters will receive free admission to the museum and a complimentary ticket to the Friday evening Champagne Reception.

For more information or assistance with the selection and registration process, contact Aimee Cotnoir at 978-345-4207 or email [email protected], or Palioca at 978-537-7630.
