NEWBURGH – The Newburgh City Police Department is going to acquire a new tool to track down and identify people of interest.
Chief Brandon Rola said the contract with Clearview AI, Inc. will aid the department in identifying potential suspects and others.
“If the police department has a still photo, they can enter that still photo into Clearview and it will look for matches of pre-existing public, open-source photos on the internet,” he said.
City Councilman Rob McLymore, a lieutenant in the Wallkill Town Police Department, said the program will help with investigations.
