STERLING — Sterling & Maple Design House and Joshua Allen Design have announced a year-long slate of community arts, design and cultural programming for this year. The initiative, supported in part by grant funding from the Sterling Cultural Council, will offer a series of public-facing events designed to foster creativity, accessibility and community connections.

The Community Arts & Cultural Events Program reflects a mission to inspire thoughtful, beautiful and meaningful spaces while celebrating local identity, timeless craft and the cultural richness of home and community life. Through a combination of design workshops, seasonal events and creative gatherings, the program aims to make design approachable and engaging for residents of all ages.

Planned events span the full calendar year and include hands-on workshops, editorial catalog launches, seasonal celebrations and public gatherings tied to local traditions. Highlights include a floral press workshop in March, Terrarium building in April, spring and fall design catalog launches, and participation in the town’s Celebrate Sterling and Small Business Saturday events. All events include programming designed to be inclusive and accessible.

“Design has the power to bring people together,” said Joshua Halterman, founder of Joshua Allen Design and Sterling & Maple Design House. “This program allows us to create welcoming, shared experiences that celebrate Sterling’s creativity, history and sense of place — while making design education and cultural engagement accessible to the broader community.”

The next event will be a Sip, Style & Frame: Pressed Floral Design workshop on Saturday, March 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sterling & Maple Design House, 40 Main St. Design a framed botanical piece with Halterman while enjoying wine and shopping at Sterling & Maple Home, the cost is $30, tickets: https://tinyurl.com/yufzd3fs. Guests will select their favorite flowers to be pressed on-site, and then arranged into a 5- by 3-inch metal frame to take home.

Then on Thursday, April 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., will be a Sip & Style; Terrarium Design workshop, also at 40 Main St. Design a terrarium with Halterman while enjoying wine and shopping. Tickets will be for sale on Eventbrite toward the end of March.
