ALBANY – The state is going to allocate $24.7 million in additional funds to six cities in the Hudson Valley in the governor’s 2027 budget.
The money is part of Temporary Municipal Assistance and is aimed at relieving immediate fiscal stress.
The City of Newburgh will receive $1.6 million, and Mayor Torrance Harvey knows how he would like to spend it.
“I would definitely look at youth programming if I could determine where the $1.6 million will go, definitely for the young people in our community, and to support our families,” he said.
The City of Poughkeepsie has an additional $1.5 million earmarked for it, while the City of White Plains will receive $1.9 million; the City of New Rochelle, $2.2 million; and the City of Mount Vernon, $2.5 million.
The City of Yonkers will receive the most at $15 million.
Mayor Mike Spano said the funds “will strengthen public safety, improve infrastructure, and protect essential services for our residents without placing additional burden on taxpayers.”
