FITCHBURG – A two-alarm fire broke out at 264 Myrtle Ave. on Wednesday morning.
Fitchburg Fire Department personnel responded to the call that came in at 8:38 a.m. According to Fire Chief Dante Suarez they discovered heavy fire upon arrival and received mutual aid from Ashby, Leominster, and Lunenburg fire departments. The first responding crews quickly established a water supply and conducted fire suppression operations.
“Primary search of building found a victim on the second floor. Victim was extricated and transported to local hospital for further treatment,” Suarez said.
Seven people were displaced as a result of the fire and there were no other injuries reported. The fire is under investigation by the Fitchburg Fire Department, Fitchburg Police Department, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
