DEAR BONNIE: I am turning 60 this year and I feel like I have missed the boat when it comes to finding true love and adventure. Have I already passed the “peak” of my life’s map or is there a second act waiting for me that I can’t see yet? Thanks, Dolores
DEAR DOLORES: There is a common earthly myth that as we age, we are climbing a mountain and we peak at 40. That’s not the case when you are talking about growing spiritually. You see life not as a mountain to climb and then descend but as a spiral staircase and as we descend we become more spiritually awake and we deepen our soul’s growth.
At 60, you enter what ancient traditions call the Third Act-the phase where the ego’s noise quiets down so the soul’s voice can finally be heard. You haven’t missed your adventure. You simply have been gathering the wisdom required to actually survive and enjoy it. The Love you find at 60 is often more profound than the love of youth. Why? Because you are no longer looking for someone to “complete” you or to build a resume with. You are looking for a soul companion. And about the adventure, it might have changed reasoning a bit because you are no longer checking off a list of places to go and see, however. Adventure becomes more refined and often with spiritual clarity that you didn’t possess thirty years ago.
If you feel you have missed the boat I promise you it’s not because the Universe has stopped sending you signs and invitations, it might be that you have been more focused on the past instead of looking toward the future.
Ask the Universe before you go to bed tonight: “Show me the path that matches who I am TODAY, not who I use to be.” Your Soul doesn’t have a watch and it certainly doesn’t have an expiration date. Your Peak isn’t behind you, it’s the moment you finally decide to say “Yes” to yourself.
Here is an affirmation for the soul’s next act.
“I release the map of who I used to be and step into the brilliance of who I am becoming. My age is not a countdown; it is a collective of wisdom that prepares me for my greatest adventures. I am not behind; I am exactly where my soul needs to be to receive a love that is deeply authentic and new. Today, I open my heart to the unexpected knowing that my brightest chapters are yet to be written.
