NEW CITY- Former Rockland County Sheriff’s Office corrections officer John Kezek, 40, of Anderson County, Tennessee, was sentenced on February 13 to two consecutive one-year terms in the Rockland County Jail.
Prosecutors said Kezek had been serving five years of probation after pleading guilty in December 2021 to first-degree tampering with public records. He was also awaiting sentencing in connection with an April 2023 guilty plea to first-degree unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching.
Those cases stemmed from incidents in 2019 at the Rockland County Correctional Facility, where Kezek admitted to sexually harassing inmates and falsifying jail log entries regarding his activities as a corrections officer. The charges also involved offenses against a separate female victim, authorities said.
In October 2025, while on probation, Kezek was accused in Tennessee of falsifying drug test results after allegedly ingesting CBD gummies and purchasing urine. He had previously been arrested and convicted in Tennessee for misdemeanor assault in July 2024. His probation supervision had been transferred to Tennessee in late 2024.
Following the new arrest, prosecutors recommended a state prison sentence of one to three years for violating probation on the tampering conviction, as well as an additional one to three years for the unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching convictions.
Instead, the court imposed one year on each felony count, to run consecutively, for a total of two years in the county jail.
“When an individual demonstrates the unwillingness to follow court orders, the justice system must respond appropriately to protect the integrity of the process,” Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh said in a statement. “Violations of probation are taken seriously by my office, and when court orders are disregarded, meaningful consequences are necessary.”
The investigation was conducted by the District Attorney’s Office Special Investigations Unit and Special Victims Unit. The cases were prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Kathleen Devlin.
