LEOMINSTER — Children are invited to explore the outdoors through hands-on creativity at “Explore Your World — Edible Bird Feeders” from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Leominster Public Library, 30 West St.
This program, hosted by Hands on Nature, is designed for children ages 4 to 12, and will guide participants in creating simple, natural bird feeders using a variety of materials and fresh foods.
“Projects such as fruit wreaths, heart-shaped cereal wreaths and sunflower-seed stars will help support local wildlife during winter, when shorter days and limited sunlight make it harder for birds to find food,” said Heather Simpson, founder of Hands on Nature. “The easy-to-make feeders can also be recreated at home after the program.”
Hands on Nature is an educational, outdoor nature program available to students from preschool to high school, located in Berlin. Their mission is to connect children to the natural world through educational hands-on experiences.
The program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s DESE ASOST Grant and is administered by the United Way of North Central Massachusetts.
Registration for this event opens on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
