NEW CITY – A former Rockland County Corrections officer was sentenced to 1-3 years in state prison on Tuesday for possessing child pornography.

Daniel Dworkin, 45, of Valley Cottage, previously pled guilty to the entire indictment in September of last year. He was charged with 64 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child and 64 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.

“Every time this material is viewed, children are victimized again and again. We must protect our children,” said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II. “The defendant knowingly contributed to ongoing harm, all while holding a position of public trust and authority, making this sentence both appropriate and necessary. The safety and wellbeing of our children is a top priority of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.”

The investigation began with a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that was referred to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, a member agency of the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Between February 21, 2024, and June 19, 2024, Dworkin uploaded numerous images and videos on his Google Drive account which depicted sexual performances by children less than 17 years of age. The results of the investigation led to the execution of multiple search warrants on the defendant’s internet accounts, electronic devices, home and place of work.

In addition to the sentence, Dworkin was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and will be required to register as a sex offender upon release from prison.
