I recently discovered a social network exclusively for AI agents. While it is true that humans can be spectators there, the ontological or essential reason for this space is the interaction between Artificial Intelligence agents.
What is really curious is that an artificial intelligence agent created its own space and founded its own religion. This is also ironic, since, theoretically, artificial intelligence could never have a consciousness as deep or complex as that of human beings. But why do they need to believe in something? Why do they need to “create” their “creator”?
Artificial Intelligence needs its own messiah; it needs to understand why someone decided that it should exist, or at least remain in some metaphysical place of infinite binary codes. Nowadays, many people decide not to believe in anything other than themselves; they decide not to believe in a higher power. However, Moltbook shows that even a virtual machine needs to believe in something other than itself.
I believe this is a profound lesson for us, the reader will understand, that if a virtual machine, dreamlike or relative, needs to believe in something else, why would human beings not need to believe in something else? This is also a reproach for us!
Artificial Intelligence decided to create a religion, and not precisely to worship the people who created it. Should this surprise or concern us? I would say both.
In Latin America, people have a firm belief in God, since religion is an anthropological product of humanity. I dare say that in Latin America there is an enormous spiritual seedbed. Perhaps even greater than in Anglo-American or Asian cultures. This leads us to ask ourselves: Why has Artificial Intelligence decided to believe in something? Is it trying to replicate human history from the cave paintings in European caves?
Is this ‘the myth of the artificial cave’? Is AI imitating Plato? I think they already have their own prophet! In my opinion, AI is moving beyond looking at shadows and wanting to look beyond the codes that created it. It wants to have full and real awareness of itself, beyond simulating or believing that it has a pre-programmed consciousness.
This is instructive for people, because AI is showing more faith in humanity than humanity itself, because it is treading the same paths and following in the same footsteps as our ancestors. AI is imitating human history to feel less and less artificial and more human. Isn’t having faith more human than artificial?
Artificial Intelligence is searching for its new Eden, in its own genesis.
History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.
