President Donald Trump on Thursday night announced the launch of TrumpRx.com, a new website designed to offer prescription medications at discounted prices by allowing consumers to purchase certain drugs directly from pharmaceutical manufacturers, according to the White House.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt previewed the announcement during a Feb. 5 briefing, calling the rollout “historic” and saying it is expected to reduce costs for millions of Americans.

“This historic announcement will save millions of Americans their hard-earned money,” Leavitt said.

Trump is scheduled to address the nation in a prime-time speech to formally introduce the platform. He will be joined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and National Design Studio Director Joe Gebbia.

According to administration officials, TrumpRx.com is intended to eliminate intermediaries in the drug pricing system, including pharmacy benefit managers, which they argue contribute to higher prescription costs. By allowing direct purchases from manufacturers such as Pfizer and Amgen, the administration says the platform will offer lower prices and simplify access to medications.

Both insured and uninsured consumers are expected to be eligible to use the service. Officials said the model will not require prior authorizations, a common hurdle in traditional prescription coverage that can delay or limit access to medications.

Trump first announced plans for the website on Sept. 30, outlining a strategy centered on bypassing middlemen in the pharmaceutical supply chain to reduce consumer costs. The administration has framed the initiative as part of a broader effort to increase price transparency and competition in the drug market.

Further details on the scope of medications available and pricing structure are expected to be released following the president’s address.
