ELLENVILLE – A man was found dead Saturday in a warming center at the Hunt Building in the Village of Ellenville. Ellenville Police originally responded to a call about an unresponsive male at the warming center and quickly determined that the man, 51-year-old Lamont Frink, was deceased.

The cause of death was determined in an autopsy, and the next of kin were immediately notified. “There is no indication of any foul play. It appears from the investigation that the deceased suffered some sort of significant medical event while he was asleep and passed away peacefully as a result,” said Ellenville Police Chief Philip Mattracion.

“The coordinators and staff who are running the shelter were fully cooperative, and obviously distraught about the incident,” Chief Mattracion continued.

Ellenville PD was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police in Wawarsing, the Ellenville Rescue Squad, and the Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office, who transferred the deceased to the Health Alliance Hospital.
