LANCASTER — The spirit of courage, justice and hope will shine brightly on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m., as the community gathers for the second annual Rosa Parks Day commemoration service at the historic Bulfinch Meetinghouse, at 725 Main St.

This candlelight service will honor the enduring legacy of the Civil Rights icon whose quiet strength helped change the course of history. Through inspiring words, soul-stirring music and shared reflection, the evening will invite attendees to remember the past while recommitting to justice, courage and community in the present.

The program will feature a special performances by The Kingdom Voices of Glory Choir, directed by acclaimed recording artist Kirosha Sidelca. Founded through a single joyful gathering, Kingdom Voices of Glory has grown into a beloved ensemble within Sidelca’s nonprofit organization, Kingdom Voice & Music, which is dedicated to providing affordable music education, performance opportunities, and training to individuals and communities. Reuniting annually for Black History Month celebrations, the choir brings voices and hearts together in praise — uplifting songs filled with love, hope and joy.

The evening’s guest speaker will be state Rep. Michael Kushmerek, D-Fitchburg, who played a key role in helping the Rev. Wil Darcangelo, minister of the First Church in Lancaster, pass the Rosa Parks Day bill into law last year. Kushmerek will reflect on the significance of this historic observance and the continued importance of civic courage and moral leadership.

Held in the warm glow of candlelight within one of New England’s most storied meetinghouses, organizers said this commemorative service promises to be a deeply moving and uplifting experience for all who attend.

All are welcome to join this meaningful evening of remembrance, music and inspiration as Massachusetts honors Rosa Parks’ legacy and the ongoing work of justice and equality.
