SHIRLEY — Area residents interested in sustainable living are invited to attend a virtual program titled, “Creating a Modern Homestead,” featuring homesteader, blogger, and author Victoria Pruett at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, hosted by Ashland Public Library, along with area libraries.
During the online event, Pruett will discuss her book, “Creating a Modern Homestead: Traditional Skills for Real, Everyday Life”, and share practical guidance on incorporating homesteading practices into daily routines. Topics will include cooking from scratch, food preservation, backyard chickens, home gardening, natural pest control, and other accessible strategies for living more sustainably.
The program is designed to provide a broad overview of simple lifestyle changes that can help individuals feel more connected to nature while reducing reliance on large commercial systems. Attendees are encouraged to take away ideas they can realistically apply in their own homes, regardless of experience level.
