POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Legislature unanimously confirmed Alisyn Gaffney as the Director of Probation and Community Corrections on Tuesday night. Gaffney was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Kathy McQuade.
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said of Gaffney, “Alisyn’s experience throughout her varied career in probation and her compassionate approach to community corrections will serve her well in this new role.”
After the unanimous vote, Gaffney took to the podium, noting “I have large shoes to fill,” in a nod to her predecessor, before vowing to continue the work that she enjoys.
Gaffney began her career with Dutchess County as an investigator for Child Protective Services in 2007 before becoming a probation officer in 2009, and served until 2016. Gaffney continued rising through the ranks of Probation, eventually becoming Principal Probation Officer in 2024.
Gaffney will officially assume her new duties on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
