GARDNER — Get ready for laughs, lab experiments gone wrong, and a monstrously good time as “Young Frankenstein” takes the stage at Theatre at the Mount this coming winter.

This electrifying musical comedy, based on Mel Brooks’ cult-classic film, tells the story of Frederick Frankenstein, a young neurosurgeon who inherits his grandfather’s infamous Transylvanian castle and laboratory.

With the help of an eccentric cast of characters, Frederick embarks on a wild and wacky journey to bring a creature to life — resulting in side-splitting chaos and unforgettable moments.

“Audiences can expect high-energy performances, dazzling choreography, gut-busting humor, along with toe-tapping tunes such as ‘The Transylvania Mania’ and ‘Puttin’ on the Ritz’”, said Gail Steele, Theatre at the Mount Director. “Audiences will find ‘Young Frankein’ to be the perfect blend of spooky and spectacular.”

“Young Frankenstein” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, Saturday, Feb. 28, Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7. A matinee will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at the theatre, located at 444 Green St.

The production is rated PG-13, and includes suggestive humor and innuendo; it may not be appropriate for younger audiences.
