POUGHKEEPSIE – The Poughkeepsie City School District Assistant Superintendent of Business, Margarita Lekaj, and Treasurer Deborah Long (not the former board member) were escorted from the district’s central office building on Thursday afternoon.

Superintendent Greg Mott did not respond to a request from Mid-Hudson News on Monday as to why the two ladies were escorted out under supervision.

Several employees have said that discrepancies in their paychecks have been occurring over the past few pay periods.

On Monday, the district had posted the Assistant Superintendent of Business position, indicating they were seeking to fill the vacancy created by Lekaj’s departure, and her name has been removed from the district website.

On Tuesday, the school district announced a special meeting of the school board for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, at the Administration Building at 18 South Perry Street in Poughkeepsie.
