NEWBURGH – Newburgh’s Democratic mayor has announced his endorsement of Governor Kathy Hochul for reelection. She is being challenged in a primary by current Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado.
Mayor Torrance Harvey said he is backing Hochul because of all she has done for Newburgh.
“We’re a small city, four square miles, 66 miles north of New York City. We’re not the big metropolitan like the five boroughs, and she has never, ever treated us any less than she treats the larger cities throughout our state, even New York City,” he said. “She has treated us as an equal.”
Harvey said it is because of the incumbent’s support that Newburgh has been the recipient of several large state grants.
