WESTMINSTER — Mount Wachusett’s remarkable views and beautiful trails hold far more than scenic beauty, and local author Matt Landry is excited to share the stories behind them.

Landry will host a talk on his newest book, “Mount Wachusett Hiking Guide and History” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Forbush Memorial Library, 118 Main St.

A Westminster native, Landry brings a personal connection to the area’s most iconic mountain.

Located in Princeton and Westminster, Mount Wachusett is the highest peak in Massachusetts east of the Berkshires and is a place rich in heritage, mystery and natural beauty.

Landry’s book blends practical hiking information with historical insight, making it a valuable resource for hikers, history enthusiasts and locals seeking a deeper connection to their surroundings.

During the program, Landry will discuss the inspiration behind the book, explore the mountain’s lesser-known stories and reflect on the ways nature can guide, teach and ground us.

Landry describes himself as both “a teacher and a lifelong student, as well as a self-help author” — shaped by experiences ranging from life’s exhilarating highs to its most difficult moments.

“I am a lover of nature and the outdoors,” Landry said. “I believe in combining hiking and healing to empower and encourage the people who surround us. Life can be confusing and an overwhelming place at times, but it doesn’t always have to be that way. I feel blessed to know that my purpose is to make the lives of others easier.”

Copies of “Mount Wachusett Hiking Guide and History” will be available for purchase and attendees will have an opportunity to meet the author.
