It’s that time of year again in the WWE where everybody begins making their predictions for the prestigious Royal Rumble. Whether it be newer stars, established vets, or the complete wildcard route, the path to Wrestlemania only intensifies from this point forward.
1. Tiffany Stratton
What time is it? Well, it hasn’t been Tiffy’s for a little while now and it’s been eerily quiet for one of WWE’s most talented up and comers. While Jade Cargill is being molded into the women’s version of Goldberg, it doesn’t seem to have much substance. With the heart of Smackdown’s women in the tag division at the moment, it really doesn’t leave anybody else established to battle it out for the championship. Perhaps it’s Tiffy’s time again, or maybe we’ll see another fellow powerhouse such as Lash Legend waiting at Elimination Chamber for an opportunity at Jade Cargill.
2. Roman Reigns
Well let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a list without the Tribal Chief. With the last heated exchange with Cody Rhodes at Survivor Series it makes too much sense for them to battle it out once again. The promos we keep seeing for Wrestlemania continue to show Roman and Cody sitting at the table, and with it being in Vegas you’d think they want to give the people a major headliner right? Whether this is a good move for young talent I don’t know, but a Cody vs Roman Part III would sure be a fun conclusion to a 4-year rivalry.
3. Sami Zayn
Could Sami Zayn really win the Royal Rumble? Is it finally his time? Will we finally get the world championship run we’ve been waiting on for however many years? Well’ I’ll say it’s an intriguing possibility. To start off, this year the Royal Rumble is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where Sami’s relationship with the fans seems to grow every appearance. So just imagine a Sami Zayn win; the crowd pop would be unreal. With a pretty big year so far, his United States title run seemed to be more of an audition for a future world title opportunity. We’ve seen prominence and integrity brought back to the United States Title with the open competition concept, and as a result we’ve gotten some amazing matches along the way. So what’s next for Sami? Don’t be surprised if he’s battling for a world title at Wrestlemania this year.
4. Roxanne Perez/Raquel Rodriguez
I’m putting these two together because the paths and potential storylines are just too similar. On one hand, the young prodigy Roxanne Perez would be a breath of fresh air, but there’s just not enough heat with her rivalries yet to really come out with the win, although I’d love to see Roxanne and Stephanie Vaquer go at it. Then, on the other hand is Raquel Rodriguez. A push for Raquel feels well overdue; she’s shown out every week and has really come into her own embracing the Big Mami Cool role. With her recent segments with Liv Morgan and a title match that ended with Stephanie Vaquer stealing her pin, it almost feels like it’s destiny for her to be next in line and leave the Judgement Day behind with some gold.
5. Oba Femi
I’m calling it, within the next five years an NXT superstar will shock the world and win the Royal Rumble. Who else is better to do it than Oba Femi? He’s been ready for a while now and can skyrocket to the top similar to how Brock Lesnar did back in 2002. After Saturday NIght’s Main Event, he proved he can hang with the big boys, and guess what, we never got a real finish to that match. Instead we got a disqualification and a show of sportsmanship, but perhaps what we really got was a glimpse into the future. Maybe we were getting a tease of what could very well be a Wrestlemania main event sooner than you think.
