GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus took the oath of office on Monday, becoming the first person to hold the post for four terms. Neuhaus first took office in 2014 after serving as Chester town supervisor.
Neuhaus is looking forward to rolling up his shirtsleeves and starting his 13th year in the county’s top elected post.
“We’re redeveloping the school in Chester into a training facility into tomorrow’s workforce,” he said. “We have some great opportunities in the cities including Newburgh where we are talking to the mayor about doing a dock that can service some great economic opportunities like the American cruise lines, and then, the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center. Just in the last month that we’ve owned it, we have seen an uptick of about 30 percent in the bookings.”
Neuhaus said his administration will continue to strengthen emergency management, expand economic development opportunities, enhance tourism, and continue working to preserve open space.
He sworn in to his new four-year term by County Clerk Kelly Eskew with Sheriff Paul Arteta, his family and county department heads wishing him well.
