PRINCETON — Princeton Arts Society is turning 35! The venerable arts organization, which draws members from throughout Worcester County, will kick off its anniversary year with a celebratory exhibition of two-dimensional works at The Gallery at Briarwood, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester.

The show will run from Sunday, Jan. 4, through Thursday, March 5, with gallery hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

A Special Anniversary Reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, at The Gallery of Briarwood.

Open to all Princeton Arts members, the exhibition also welcomes new participants — membership is available at any time through princetonarts.org.

Founded in 1991 by a small group of dedicated Princeton artists, Princeton Arts has grown into a vibrant and widely respected organization with an influential reach extending well beyond the town’s borders.

Board member Jean Strock said, “In an early brainstorming meeting in 1989, one participant said, ‘Is this an idea of substance or just something thought up over cocktails at a party?’ Well, 35 years later it is a resounding yes to his question about substance!”

The group welcomes Wachusett-area artists across all fine arts, literary arts and crafts, as well as supporters of the arts.

The organization offers two gallery shows each year, in the fall and spring, a weekly portrait group with live models, a weekly open studio session, periodic music and literary events and a monthly newsletter.

In celebration of its 35th year, Princeton Arts is planning a full roster of special lectures, concerts and workshops. Details will be shared through the group’s website, newsletter, Facebook page, and other media outlets.
