GROTON – Area residents are invited to take a festive trip to France – no passport required – when the Groton Public Library hosts “Armchair Travel to Paris: A Live Walk Highlighting Christmas in Paris” from noon until 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22.
This virtual program, presented via Zoom, will feature French tour guide Patrick Herpe, who will lead viewers through some of Paris’s most iconic holiday sights.
Herpe will stream live from the streets of Paris as he begins his walk at Place Vendome, the elegant royal square originally built under Louis XIV and later redesigned by Napoleon. Known for its grand architecture, luxury hotels and world-renowned jewelry houses, the square is especially dazzling during the holiday season.
From there, viewers will follow Herpe past the historic Opera Garnier before he concludes the tour at the Christmas window displays at Galeries Lafayette, a beloved annual tradition that draws crowds from around the world.
The event is presented in partnership with the Tewksbury Public Library and support in part by the Groton Public Library Endowment Trust.
Registrants will receive the access link by e-mail and a recording will be provided to all who register within 48 hours of the program.
For more information, or to register, visit the Groton Public Library’s calendar on its website at gpl.org.
