LANCASTER — State Sen. John Cronin recently joined Young Craftsman Foundation President Tim McNamara to present $15,000 in state funding for the North Central Mass.-based nonprofit organization.
The funding was secured by Cronin as part of the fiscal 2026 state budget. The investment provides $15,000 in state funding to the organization to facilitate the purchase of first-rate equipment for students training to enter a skilled trade after graduation and is the first state support for the Young Craftsman Foundation since its inception.
“Investments in tomorrow’s skilled workforce set our region up for long term success and economic growth,” said Cronin said. “Young Craftsman is an incredible resource for young people looking to enter the trades and helps countless students enter meaningful, good-paying careers directly out of high school. I’m grateful for Tim and his organization’s work to put new graduates on the pathway to success and to make North Central a place where people build their future.”
The Young Craftsman Foundation, which is run by McNamara, a Lancaster resident, is a nonprofit dedicated to providing graduating students across the region with high-quality tools and resources to accelerate their professional growth and create a more sustainable trades industry across the communities they serve. Individual tool packages for students are at a minimum a $500 value.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Commonwealth’s support and especially for Senator Cronin’s leadership in making this funding possible,” McNamara said. “There is a growing shift in how people view the trades, and this investment shows a real commitment to building the future workforce of Massachusetts. With a continued shortage of skilled workers entering the trades, this $15,000 in funding will go directly toward equipping students with high-quality tool belts and tools so they can step onto job sites on day one prepared to produce high-quality workmanship.”
