LEOMINSTER — Families are welcomed to an afternoon of music, movement, and playful fun as Ukulele J returns with her popular “Song Time Fun and Stuffed Animal Parade” at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Leominster Public Library, 30 West St.
Musician and storyteller, Jodie Rachman — fondly known as Ukulele J — is a Leominster resident who brings joyful music programs to audiences of all ages.
“I love singing with people,” Rachman added. “Young and old and in between. I always enjoy presenting my ‘Song Time Fun’ pre-K program at the Leominster Public Library, as well as other libraries, preschools, daycare facilities, and private parties.”
Rachman works full time entertaining and teaching ukulele and songwriting at nursing homes, group homes, senior centers, and preschools, making her a familiar and energetic presence throughout the region.
Her “Song Time Fun” program, featuring her original Stuffed Animal Parade, is designed for pre-k children, but delights children of all ages.
“Families are encouraged to wear their dancing shoes and bring a favorite stuffed animal to join in the fun,”Rachman said.
With a mix of familiar tunes, original songs, and her bright, cheerful ukulele, everyone is sure to have a great time.
“We enjoy putting together a wide range of musical performance opportunities that are fun, interactive, and that expose children to music of all types,” said Sarah Chapdelaine, Head of Children’s Services, Leominster Public Library. “It’s a great way for them to learn about all the different styles of music in an inviting, family-friendly atmosphere, where everyone is encouraged to dance and sing along.”
“For me, the best part (other than just loving the kids), is seeing when the parents realize how much their children love music,” said Rachman. “We are all born with music in our souls and all we need to do is encourage and nurture that natural instinct – the results will be life long.”
