PORT JERVIS – An 84-year-old man will be charged by State Police in the stabbing death of a 62-year-old woman in The Sentinel assisted living housing in Port Jervis.
Troopers from the Greenville barracks and Deerpark Town Police responded at around 11:39 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 where they found Patricia Winters stabbed to death inside her assisted living residence at 2237 Greenville Turnpike in Port Jervis.
The suspect, James Annear of Port Jervis, was also found in the bedroom suffering from apparent self-inflicted stab wounds.
Police said the preliminary investigation determined the two were involved in a verbal confrontation that turned physical prior to the stabbings.
Annear was treated at the scene and then transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition and will be charged with murder when his medical condition permits.
The investigation is continuing.
